Wayne Marshall is an assistant professor in Liberal Arts teaching music history courses with a focus on American and Afrodiasporic societies. An ethnomusicologist who studies the interplay between Caribbean and American popular music, sound reproduction technologies, and musical publics, Wayne has taught at Harvard, MIT, Brown, Brandeis, and the University of Chicago. He co-edited Reggaeton (Duke 2009) and has published in such journals as Popular Music and Callaloo while writing for press outlets like Wax Poetics and The Wire as well as on his acclaimed blog, wayneandwax.
