It\u2019s also a reminder that a whole lot of music exists outside of our countries and languages of origin, and an opportunity to expand our musical boundaries.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get yourself in a global mindset for the 2022 Olympics, we\u2019ve put together a playlist of music from artists around the world. You can find the Spotify link at the bottom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-china\"><strong>China<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering that the Olympics are held in Beijing, let\u2019s start with China. Yu Su is an electronic musician whose latest album <em>Yellow River Blue <\/em>is named after China\u2019s Yellow River near her hometown of Keifang. Her music combines synth beats with traditional Chinese instruments and tones. In an interview with <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/yu-su-yellow-river-blue\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pitchfork<\/a><\/em>, she says, \u201cWhen I DJ or make music and when I make sound installations it\u2019s completely different stuff. Their 2020 song \u201cCome Along (feat. A.GIRL)\u201d is a celebration of their Ghanaian heritage. At a writing camp, the sisters connected with R&amp;B artist A.GIRL, who shared the same desire to celebrate her heritage from New Zealand through song. After starting out as DJs and songwriters, Briony and Savannah\u2019s manager encouraged them to start singing their own music. Kinder was recently signed to Warner Music and is working on an EP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Listen to: <\/strong>Their 2020 single <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Come Along (feat. His sound gives the impression of someone who has been influenced by sounds from around the world, and is executed with acoustic guitar and jazz rhythm. In 2021, he released the album <em>Morning Glory<\/em>, however his 2018 album <em>Heisei<\/em> is probably the best place to start in your Yuta Orisaka dive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Listen to: \u201c<\/strong>Sakamichi\u201d from the 2018 album <em>Heisei<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sakamichi\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qypjoJKS8w4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-turkey\"><strong>Turkey<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mertkan \u00d6zkan is featured on a Spotify playlist titled \u201cFresh Finds T\u00fcrkiye,\u201d and Spotify wasn\u2019t lying when they say it\u2019s fresh, because there is not much information about him on the English-speaking internet unfortunately. He has about five singles including his latest, <strong>\u201c<\/strong>A\u015f\u015f\u015f\u0131r\u0131 Kaliteli Zaman,\u201d and they\u2019re all wonderfully retro and synthy. This tracks with his Spotify profile, which says he is inspired by British progressive rock bands and classic music of the 1970s and \u201980s. She describes her music as \u201cthe fluctuation of the teenage psyche; often shifting from edgy beats with irreverently badass lyrics to ambient instrumentals accompanied by thoughtfully melancholic lyrics, some songs highlighting her unwavering confidence and others boldly revealing her insecurities.\u201d&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Listen to: <\/strong>DellaXOZ\u2019s 2021 single<strong> \u201c<\/strong>AHH!!!\u201d<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DellaXOZ - AHH!! American hip-hop is his big influence, and after spending time in New York, chose to rap his songs in English. In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0IC5q6-to2A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">HIPHOPLE<\/a>, he says, \u201cThere\u2019s a difference in pronunciation and mood in every language, so when writing in Korean, sometimes I lost my original meaning. Purposely trying to find the right word in Korean, it didn\u2019t feel the same as what I hoped to deliver in English.\u201d Park is inspired by the visuals of American artists like Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, and the sounds of South Korean rapper Lil Cherry, who he says approaches rap from an unapologetically Asian perspective.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Listen to:<\/strong> The delightful and silly track \u201cMODERN FOX\u201d from the 2021 album <em>SYNDROMEZ<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\ud83c\udf83\uc5ec\uc6b0\uac00 \ub3fc\ubc84\ub9b0 \uc9c0\uc62c\ud30d Zior Park - Modern Fox(\uac00\uc0ac\/\ud574\uc11d\/\ubc88\uc5ed)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5nbvGf63z7E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-india\"><strong>India<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After a two-year hiatus since their last single, the duo Burudu (with Sahil Bhatia of New Delhi and Nakul Sharma of Mumbai), are making new music with the release of their ambient single, \u201cVice.\u201d Burudu\u2019s 2017 full-length album <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/2r6XIDSUxll1MYYo6H5iIy?si=zggG3ck0RYGYpH7go7n3PQ&amp;dl_branch=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Ditties<\/a><\/em> illustrates their commitment to house music as well as trance music. Their new single leaves you wanting more. Her songs have millions of streams on Spotify, she performed with Beyonc\u00e9 in <em>Black is King<\/em>, and she also happens to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/college.berklee.edu\/news\/216\/student-profile-tiwa-savage?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-link-from-article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Berklee alum<\/a>. If you have yet to check her out, now is the time to get on it! Tiwa\u2019s 2020 album <em>Celia<\/em> received international praise. In an interview with the <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/09\/07\/arts\/music\/tiwa-savage-celia.html\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a><\/em>, she says, \u201cI wanted my message to be clear. It\u2019s easy to understand why her music was chosen for a show with such a name, as her songs evoke grainy images of the Italian coast in the \u201970s, as do her music videos.
