Her fame only increased with her next album, <em>Electric Youth,<\/em> featuring the No. 1 hit \u201cLost in Your Eyes.\u201d She understands the importance of nurturing young talent in the music industry, which is why she chose 20-year-old Sean Thomas to co-produce and mix her first album in 20 years, <em>The Body Remembers<\/em>. Thomas is a 2021 graduate of Berklee Online\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/music-production?pid=8023&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-promotion\" target=\"_blank\">Music Production bachelor\u2019s program<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBecause I started as a teen as well, I feel such camaraderie and such pride in introducing a now 20-year-old Sean to the world,\u201d says Gibson. \u201cThe joy and expertise and originality he brought to this project is an immeasurable gift!\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/IMG_0418.jpeg\" alt=\"Debbie Gibson, Sean Thomas, and Joey McIntyre backstage before one of their shows in Las Vegas. \" class=\"wp-image-16914 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>In August and September 2021, Gibson and Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block performed two four-night runs at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, where Thomas served as the music director and played keyboard and bass in their band.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was my first real experience performing in a show that large with that big of a scale, so it was an incredible thing to be a part of,\u201d says Thomas.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gibson first met then 13-year-old Thomas on the set of the 2016 Hallmark movie <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/aAeFP1pMGJc\" target=\"_blank\">Summer of Dreams<\/a><\/em>, where Gibson played his music teacher. The two revisited their roles in the sequel <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mZWi-rt2-uE\" target=\"_blank\">Wedding of Dreams<\/a><\/em>, and by then, Gibson was well aware of Thomas\u2019 production chops. After filming, Gibson asked Thomas to produce her song \u201cYour Forever Girl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Debbie Gibson - &quot;Your Forever Girl&quot; (Official Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F2VfGI-58NA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u201cYour Forever Girl\u201d written by Debbie Gibson for the Hallmark Channel movie <em>Wedding of Dreams.<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was really natural because I was her music student in the movie and she was my teacher, so growing from that relationship was really seamless . . .&nbsp; And then after that she contacted me and she wanted me to do the song.\u201d&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas flew out to Las Vegas several times to record with Gibson over the past few years. Following \u201cYour Forever Girl,\u201d he had the responsibility of bringing her hit \u201cLost in Your Eyes\u201d into the twenty-first century as a duet with McIntyre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Debbie Gibson &amp; Joey McIntyre - Lost In Your Eyes, The Duet (Official Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vay7cp1RkZ8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Debbie Gibson and Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block sing the revamped \u201cLost in Your Eyes\u201d duet, produced by Sean Thomas. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018Lost in Your Eyes\u2019 was really fun because obviously it\u2019s such an iconic song and there\u2019s certain things that you have to keep true to the original or else it wouldn\u2019t feel like the original,\u201d says Thomas. \u201cWith every instrument I added, I wanted to bring it into a new kind of world, but still try to keep it classic and timeless.\u201d&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before long, Gibson had enough tracks to put out her full album. In an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/08\/22\/1030100022\/lost-in-your-eyes-singer-debbie-gibson-releases-first-album-in-20-years\" target=\"_blank\">interview with NPR<\/a>, she said, \u201cIf you\u2019re going to put something out, you better have something to say. I went through a chapter that was really challenging . . . And, you know, in coming out of all of that, that\u2019s where the really inspirational music to me lived. And it just felt like time.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While working on this album with Gibson during the day, and finishing his Berklee Online coursework at night, Thomas recalls applying what he learned in Prince Charles Alexander and Mitch Benoff\u2019s <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/courses\/vocal-production?pid=8023&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-promotion\" target=\"_blank\">Vocal Production<\/a><\/em> course directly to the album.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since things are quieting down after his run in Vegas, Thomas is getting back to writing his own music. He describes his style as acoustic singer\/songwriter and is inspired by artists such as Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, and John Mayer. He\u2019s also collaborating with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sylmac\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sylvia MacCalla<\/a>, who sings vocals with Gibson and has a long and varied background in musical theater, songwriting, and music production.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube stuff, and coming out of the experience with Debbie I\u2019m just really excited to put what I learned, especially with Berklee and Debbie, into my music now.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><a
