Each year this milestone brings together Berklee Online students from around the world for a weekend of celebration among graduates, instructors, advisors, and family and friends. Commencement represents not only the culmination of years of hard work, but also the tenacity that defines Berklee Online\u2019s global community. Read the inspiring stories of six Berklee Online graduates who reflect on their experiences and share what\u2019s in store for their futures.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ashley-aunor-nbsp\">Ashley Aunor&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Entertainment runs in the family for Ashley Aunor, an award-winning artist, producer, film composer, and DJ from the Philippines. Her mom, Maribel Lala Aunor, was a teen star in the \u201970s, and her aunt, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nora_Aunor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Nora Aunor<\/a>, has been conferred as a National Artist of the Philippines. Ashley released her first album at the age of five and was on track to follow in her family\u2019s footsteps, but she took the advice of a teacher who encouraged her to enjoy her childhood and finish out school.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Ashley_1.jpg\" alt=\"An artistic photo of Ashley Aunor standing in front of a glowing vending machine with rubik's cubes in their hair, on their jacket, and on earrings.  \" class=\"wp-image-20809\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Berklee Online graduate Ashley Aunor, whose artist name is Cool Cat Ash. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I think back, I\u2019m okay with this route because I think I wouldn\u2019t have been able to become a music producer without that huge pause from childhood to college,\u201d says Ashley. \u201cI think I would\u2019ve been a singer, and then I don\u2019t know where I would go from there. I wouldn\u2019t even know what a music producer was, probably. So yeah, I\u2019m just happy that I\u2019m here.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graduate of Berklee Online\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/music-degrees\/undergraduate\/music-production?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\">Music Production bachelor\u2019s degree<\/a> program, Ashley has fulfilled the promise to herself about completing her schooling, and is taking advantage of all the opportunities that are coming her way. This includes a record deal with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.awal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AWAL<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/starmusicph\/\" target=\"_blank\">Star Music<\/a> for her project <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/2pizLizm4F0mawR6SKnt5C?si=ee7pL-TFSWGcFwM3YP5UtA\" target=\"_blank\">Cool Cat Ash<\/a>, which she\u2019s hoping will bring her music to international audiences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cool Cat Ash - I Find Love So So Weird (Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FZnbYHhqaGI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u2019s also continuing to expand her roster of clients as co-founder of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/aunorableproductions.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\">Aunorable Productions<\/a> with her sister <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/0lslA51eKXwTUY0TSX9Emy?si=ov00f0hERtC7ohxVSPny0g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Marion Aunor<\/a>, who also has a multifaceted music and acting career. They do everything from songwriting to producing, arranging, mixing and mastering, and film scoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1354\" height=\"846\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Ashley_2.jpg\" alt=\"Ashley Aunor (left) and her sister Marion Aunor (right) in front of a black backdrop. \" class=\"wp-image-20812\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ashley (left) and her sister Marion (right) are the co-owners of Aunorable Productions. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI don\u2019t think I would\u2019ve been able to even put up the company with my sister,\u201d she says, \u201cor even become a music producer and work as a music producer without the knowledge that I\u2019ve attained from my classes.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bob-corson-nbsp\">Bob Corson&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, Bob Corson from Ottawa, Canada, was starting to think about retiring from his career in cybersecurity, when he discovered Berklee Online. He enrolled in a few guitar courses, just to see if he liked it. After one semester, he began Berklee Online\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/music-degrees\/undergraduate\/guitar-performance?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\">Guitar Performance bachelor\u2019s degree<\/a> program and stepped back from his full-time job. Now Bob is graduating from Berklee Online, but his pursuit of music education isn\u2019t stopping anytime soon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Bob_1.jpg\" alt=\"Guitar Performance graduate Bob Corson playing guitar in a warehouse with barrels in the background. \" class=\"wp-image-20813\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Guitar Performance graduate Bob Corson. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really hungry to continue to learn,\u201d says Bob. \u201cI swore I was going to be a professional musician, and then life took turns. So to propel myself forward a little bit towards that item on the bucket list and still wanting to learn, I think that that\u2019s my takeaway.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bob recently became the lead guitarist for the band <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zoolooandtheseaweeds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zooloo and the Seaweeds<\/a>, where he\u2019s working on recording their next album and planning a US tour.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Bob_2.jpg\" alt=\"Bob Corson with the three other members of the band Zooloo and the Seaweeds. \" class=\"wp-image-20814\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bob Corson (second from right) with the band Zooloo and the Seaweeds. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He will be attending Commencement with his wife, daughter, and her boyfriend there to cheer him on. Bob says he hopes to meet as many classmates and professors as possible, including his private guitar instructor, <a href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/faculty\/bruce-bartlett?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Bruce Bartlett<\/a>.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m already starting to reach out to people and see if we can meet in person,\u201d says Bob. \u201cAnd my reason for that is I want to express my gratitude verbally and in person. It\u2019s just been an awesome experience.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-avalon-reed-nbsp\">Avalon Reed&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Avalon Reed first enrolled in Berklee Online\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/music-degrees\/undergraduate\/songwriting-and-producing-music?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\">Songwriting and Producing Music bachelor\u2019s degree<\/a> program as she was transitioning out of the US Marine Corps. From 2017-2021, she played flute in the Marine Corps Band. Avalon decided to enroll at Berklee Online to learn how to turn the voice memos in her phone and lyrics in her journal into recorded music, a talent that came to the forefront during eight months of bootcamp.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"828\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Avalon_2.jpg\" alt=\"Avalon Reed playing flute with the Marine Corps Band. \" class=\"wp-image-20815\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Avalon Reed playing flute with the Marine Corps Band. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe only thing that really got me through it was Sundays when I would go to church and sing,\u201d says Avalon. \u201cI realized that through all that time, I was always singing or I would always be writing songs. So when I saw that the songwriting and the music production course was an option, I immediately was like, \u2018This is something I want to do because I want to do something more with my songs than have them just sitting in a journal somewhere.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"828\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Avalon_1.jpg\" alt=\"Berklee Online graduate Avalon Reed playing guitar. \" class=\"wp-image-20816\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Berklee Online graduate Avalon Reed playing guitar. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the twists in Avalon\u2019s Berklee Online journey happened when she took the <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/courses\/music-publishing-101?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\">Music Publishing 101<\/a> <\/em>course with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/faculty\/thomas-valentino-esq?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Valentino, Esq<\/a>. as part of her program requirements and discovered a fascination with copyright law. Leading up to Berklee Commencement, Avalon is studying to take her LSATs with hopes of attending Vanderbilt Law School.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is a lot of information,\u201d she says. \u201cThe cool thing is I stayed in touch with professor Valentino. So at the end of the semester, he gave us his email and he told us, \u2018If you need anything, don\u2019t be afraid to reach out.\u2019 So he was the first one I reached out to and I asked for recommendations on how to prepare for the LSATs, so he\u2019s been a great source of information.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jaymee-senigaglia-nbsp\">Jaymee Senigaglia&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduating Berklee Online\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/music-degrees\/undergraduate\/music-business?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\">Music Business bachelor\u2019s degree<\/a> program represents an array of accomplishments for Jaymee Senigaglia. What started as a project for her coursework, turned into a successful launch of her own youth theater program: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mystagepresence.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stage Presence Performing Arts Studio<\/a> in the Bay Area. Jaymee employs 18 total staff members, two of which are Berklee students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Jaymee_1.jpg\" alt=\"A headshot of Berklee Online graduate Jaymee Senigaglia with a pink backdrop. \" class=\"wp-image-20817\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Berklee Online graduate Jaymee Senigaglia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just trying to create a more inclusive, diverse, and kind space for kids,\u201d she says, about her studio. \u201cI launched the program last summer and I couldn\u2019t believe it was profitable, so we immediately planned the next one as soon as that one ended. And then in the middle of all of this, I actually got hired to do a school show. And so as I was writing my capstone, I was dealing with the scenarios in real time.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The success didn\u2019t come without struggle for Jaymee, who went through a divorce, a health crisis, and loss of income due to Covid during her time in the program. But now Jaymee is graduating Berklee as a mom of two, a bride-to-be this summer, and a profitable business owner. In fact, her next order of business is producing and vocal directing a production of <em>Willy Wonka Jr.<\/em>   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1478\" height=\"923\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Jaymee_2.jpg\" alt=\"Jaymee holding her then one-year-old son on her hip, with a microphone in the other hand, giving a welcome speech onstage during her production of Mean Girls Jr.\" class=\"wp-image-20818\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Jaymee holding her then one-year-old son while giving a welcome speech during her production of <em>Mean Girls Jr.<\/em>\ufeff<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are so many things that feel good about this degree to me, besides being done with it, but I really feel deeply, there\u2019s no more story of failure as a single mom who\u2019s trying to figure it out,&#8221; says Jaymee. \u201cI am not trying to figure it out anymore. I know. And I just feel more confident and more secure financially and with who I am.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jimmy-mowery-nbsp\">Jimmy Mowery&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmymowery.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jimmy Mowery<\/a> from Altoona, PA, first started his bachelor\u2019s degree program with Berklee Online in 2018, but that wasn\u2019t the only exciting thing happening at that time. In the first year of his coursework, he was invited to audition for season 16 of <em>The Voice<\/em>, with judges Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. Jimmy sang \u201cAttention\u201d by Berklee alum <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/college.berklee.edu\/people\/charlie-puth\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Puth<\/a>, and Levine pressed his button before Mowery had even sang two lines, and Legend pressed his button about halfway through the performance. Mowery chose team Adam.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Voice 16 Jimmy Mowery Attention\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PQ10jpr1t2Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo matter what, it was going to be Adam, just because I was such a big Maroon 5 fan growing up,\u201d says Jimmy. \u201cI just wanted to be able to pick his brain and try to learn from him. He could see how nervous I was, and it was a little off-camera thing, but he gave me a hug, and he was like, \u2018I know you\u2019re nervous, but you belong here just like everybody else does.\u2019\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1140\" height=\"713\" src=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/takenote\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/commencement_article_image_2024_Jimmy_1.jpg\" alt=\"Jimmy Mowery performing on season 16 of The Voice with a cheering audience. \" class=\"wp-image-20820\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Jimmy Mowery performing on season 16 of <em>The Voice<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only did Jimmy work with Levine, but he was coached by Puth during the battle rounds of the show, where the judges pit two members of their team against each other.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the first things I said was, \u2018Dude, I\u2019m in Berklee right now,\u2019 and I told him that he was one of the main reasons why I enrolled,\u201d says Jimmy. \u201cHe was like, \u2018That\u2019s so cool!\u2019\u201d&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jimmy will be walking at this year\u2019s Berklee Commencement for earning his <a href=\"https:\/\/online.berklee.edu\/music-degrees\/undergraduate\/songwriting?campaign_id=7010Z000001ZkQgQAK&amp;pid=&amp;utm_source=takenote&amp;tum_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=bol-gen-takenote-article-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">bachelor\u2019s degree in Songwriting<\/a>. His post-graduation plans include buying a home with his wife, building his own studio, and recording his demos.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve loved how much Berklee has helped me be more consistent with songwriting because before that, it was more like a chore,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s made me a much better songwriter, just learning the formulas and ins and outs of everything.
