Student email accounts are limited to usage by active degree students. Check the Policy Page here for more information.
What this Means
If you use your berklee.edu email address to log in to online.berklee.edu, you'll want to change your Berklee Online account to use a personal email address instead.
You will no longer have access to your berklee.edu Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and all other Google tools. You are encouraged to migrate log-in credentials associated with your Berklee account to a personal email instead, as well as back up files stored on your student account.
How to prepare
See below for some steps you can take to ensure a smooth transition once your Berklee email account expires.
Change Your Berklee Online Login
If your Berklee Online account is linked to your Berklee email address, you will want to update it to a personal email address instead with the following steps:
- Click here to go to your Berklee Online My Home page.
- On your My Home page, click Account Settings, then Edit Personal Info.
- If your Berklee email is currently set as the username for Berklee Online, it will be displayed on this page. Click Change next to it, then enter your personal email.
- After doing this, the next time you log in to Berklee Online your personal email will be used as the username.
If you require any assistance logging in, don't hesitate to reach out to the Berklee Online Support Team with the contact information at the bottom of this page.
Create a Backup and/or Transfer Data
Using Google Takeout, you can either create a backup of your student email's data, or transfer your data to a different email address.
Click here for Google's directions on saving a backup, and click here for instructions on transferring data contained in Google.
Set a Vacation Responder to Phase Out Old Email
With a vacation responder, you can automatically notify anyone who contacts your student email about your address change.
Click here for instructions from Google on setting up a vacation responder.
Note that the vacation responder will remain active until your student email is disabled.
Email Contacts About Your New Email Address
It is strongly recommended to either email your contacts, or otherwise let them know, about your change of email address before it happens.
Even if you transfer your own data to a new email address, notifying individuals who you want to stay in touch with will allow them to update your contact information on their end too.
Change Your Registered Email for Online Accounts
Besides your Berklee Online account, you may have used your Berklee email to create accounts for other websites.
It is recommended to log in and change your registered email address for external sites, prior to your student email's expiration, in order to prevent loss of access down the road.
It can be tricky to remember every site that might be using your Berklee email address. Below are a few websites where one's student email is frequently used when creating an account; you can start by checking these, as well as the sites on our Student Deals Page here, and proceed to change your account information as needed.
Some sites that may be using your student email address include:
- Ableton: On your Ableton account page here, click the Personal details tab at the top, then click Edit next to your email address.
- Avid.com: Log in to your Avid account page here, then scroll down to the Account Info portion and click Change Email Address.
- Splice: Access your Splice profile page here, click the pencil (edit) icon in the top-right, then proceed to add your new email in the field below. Note that you may need to authenticate (log in again) in order to change your registered email.
- Wix.com: On your Wix account dashboard here, scroll down to the Login Info section and enter your new email address. You will be asked to enter your password before adding the new email, and may also be asked to verify the email with a link or code after it is added.
