File Types that Embed in BOCCE

Updated on June 13th, 2024

You are able to upload any file type into the course environment; however, only certain types are able to embed, meaning that they can be played or viewed within the course without having to be downloaded.

File types that embed into BOCCE are:

  • Audio
    • MP3
    • M4A
  • Documents
    • PDF
  • Video
    • MP4
    • MOV
    • WebM
    • M4V
  • Picture
    • JPEG
    • PNG

File types other than the ones listed above will not embed in the course environment, but can still be uploaded and downloaded

YouTube videos that are shared via a link are able to be viewed directly in BOCCE, as long as that individual video's permissions on YouTube are set to allow embedding. To share a YouTube video in BOCCE:

  1. Navigate to the video you wish to share and copy the URL
  2. If you want to have your video start at a certain point
    1. Navigate to your desired start point on the video and pause it
    2. Click the Share button on the YouTube Page
    3. Click the Start At check box
    4. Click Copy to get the appended URL
  3. In BOCCE paste the URL as either a new post, or a reply to a comment that is already there.
  4. When you submit your post, the video will then embed and be viewable directly in BOCCE.

Songs from Tidal will also function in a similar way, when the URL is copied from either the Tidal app or website and will also embed directly into BOCCE.
