Preferences vs. Settings
Please note that in some newer versions of macOS and Logic Pro, Preferences may appear as Settings. It's important to differentiate that there is Logic Pro > Settings, and also File > Project Settings. This article is referring to Logic Pro > Settings.
By default, Logic Pro will install with the Complete Features checkbox disabled. This mode is a good transition for those who started out in GarageBand, but all Berklee Online courses will assume that the Complete Features checkbox is enabled. Some of these features include the ability to:
- Access the Event, Marker, Tempo, and Signature Lists.
- Access the Project Audio Browser and All Files Browser.
- Access the Step Editor (formerly Hyper Editor) to graphically edit MIDI events.
- Customize the control bar and toolbar with additional buttons and controls.
- Access the Marker, Signature, and Beat Mapping global tracks.
- Customize key commands in the Key Commands window.
- Use additional recording functionality, including: Quick Punch-In, Autopunch, advanced recording commands, and automatic coloring of takes when recording.
- Use Quick Swipe Comping to create composite takes (comps).
- Use step input recording to manually enter MIDI events rather than recording them in real time.
To enable Complete Features:
- From within Logic Pro, navigate to Logic Pro > Preferences, or press cmd + , (command and comma).
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Click on the checkbox to enable Complete Features.
