Sometimes, settings in Chromium-based browsers (including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and some others) can become corrupted and cause connection issues.
This can lead to “Connection Reset” errors, the inability to access certain pages, or issues uploading files to sites such as BOCCE.
Resetting your browser's settings to their default state is a quick way to address these issues, as doing so will revert any changes that apps or extensions might have made without your knowledge.
Note that accessibility settings (such as fonts), as well as passwords saved in your browser, will not be affected by a reset. Temporary data like cookies will be cleared, so you will have to sign in the next time you visit any sites. Extensions in your browser will also be disabled. Check out this Google Chrome Help article about resetting Chrome settings for more information.
To reset your browser's settings, perform the following steps:
- Click the three-dotted icon in the top right of your browser window, then select Settings.
- On the left-hand side, click Reset settings > Restore settings to their original defaults > Reset settings.
- Refresh any pages which may have encountered errors before. Note you will need to sign in again to any sites you visit, but passwords saved in your browser will be retained.
