Music is My Life: Episode 037
Ron Pope Talks ‘A Drop in the Ocean,’ ‘One Grain of Sand,’ and Massive Streaming Numbers
Ron Pope wrote “A Drop in the Ocean,” a mammoth hit that he had no idea would resonate with an audience so much. Then he wrote “One Grain of Sand” and enjoyed similar astronomical success. He released his latest album, Bone Structure earlier this month, and the story behind its creation involves a scrapped original album, masked gunmen, and a brand new daughter. He talks to Pat Healy about how a deep love of the music of Bruce Springsteen, combined with a college baseball injury led to his musical career. He also discusses triumphs and tribulations with major labels and streaming services, as well as Brooklyn Basement Records, the label he founded with his wife and manager, Blair Pope.
