Music is My Life: Episode 024

Ben Vaughn Talks Television Scoring, Production, and Songwriting

Ben Vaughn is best known for his work on That 70s Show, which he talks about extensively in this episode of Music is My Life, including how it came to be that Big Star’s “In the Street” was chosen as the theme, but not the original version. (See below).

But Vaughn also has extensive experience with songwriting (he’s been covered by Marshall Crenshaw and Deer Tick) and production (he’s produced Ween, Los Straightjackets, and an oddball one-off collaboration between Big Star’s Alex Chilton and Suicide’s Alan Vega). He is pictured above with his first group, the Ben Vaughn Combo.
