Berklee Online is adding to its lineup with a new Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition degree and three new minors: Music Production and Recording, Music Industry Entrepreneurship, and Film and Media Scoring. As the worldwide provider of Berklee College of Music’s renowned curriculum, Berklee Online continues to innovate by expanding its offerings to meet the needs of musicians and music industry professionals. 

Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition

The Music Composition bachelor’s degree program is designed to help you master your compositional craft, push your musical boundaries, and shape your unique sound for a groundbreaking career in the industry. You will gain the tools and experience to compile a comprehensive portfolio, which will highlight your diverse array of in-demand skills. Through a deep exploration of harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, analysis, and history, you will have what it takes to compose across diverse styles and instruments prevalent in modern concert music. 

It’s not just about the coursework—you will benefit from one-on-one lessons with Berklee Online instructors and get real-world experience through reading sessions with live ensembles. Each semester’s private lessons will include a reading session—where an ensemble rehearses and performs new compositions for the first time, allowing composers to hear their works live—with the size of the ensemble and the scope of the composition expanding throughout the program.

By the end, you will have a diverse portfolio of original compositions and the skills to pursue a career as a composer, orchestrator, music director, and more.

Applications are open now, until November 12, 2024, with the first semester beginning on January 13, 2025.
