Berklee Online certificate and degree programs are approved for VA Educational Benefits. You may also check the VA Website to confirm which Berklee Online programs are approved. The GI Bill®* cannot be used for individual courses or courses taken outside of an approved program.

Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® covers:
- Tuition and Fees up to: $28,937.09 per academic year (August 1, 2024 to August 1st, 2025–this includes our Fall '24, Winter '25, Spring '25, and Summer '25 terms).
- A monthly housing allowance. For those enrolled at Berklee Online, the distance learning housing allowance is equal to half the national average BAH for an E-5 with dependents. The housing allowance is paid proportionately based on enrollment per semester and varies based on program. (undergraduate vs. graduate)

To use your Post-9/11 GI benefits toward an online degree or certificate:
- Initiate the Education Benefits Application process. Once approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility. This certificate will include your benefit level and overall entitlement.
Please Note
- If you have used benefits at another college, you are required to submit form 22-1995 Request for Change of Program. Keep a record of your Change of Program confirmation code.
- If you do not have a copy of your certificate of eligibility, we can also accept a Post 9/11 Statement of Benefits.
- Submit the Berklee Online Military Intake Form for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Dependents. Attach your certificate of eligibility or statement of benefits and 22-1995 code when submitting.
- Work with your Academic or Admissions Advisor to register for courses.
- Submit the Berklee Online VA Certification Request Form.
- The Military Affairs team will apply your Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits to your student account.
- The Military Affairs team will certify your enrollment prior to the semester and then again during week three of the semester.
Don't Forget…
- Students are required to submit the Berklee Online VA Certification Form each semester they plan to utilize benefits.
- Students will be responsible for paying any remaining balance after the application of your benefits.
Montgomery GI Bill® (Chapter 30)
The Montgomery GI Bill® - Active Duty (MGIB-AD) Program—sometimes known as Chapter 30—provides education benefits to veterans and service members who have at least two years of active duty. For more information, visit https://va.gov.
To use your Montgomery GI Bill® (Ch. 30) Benefits toward an online degree or certificate:
- Initiate the Education Benefits Application process. Once approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility. This certificate will include your benefit level and overall entitlement.
Important Notes
- If you have used your VA Benefits at another college, you will also be required to submit form 22-1995 Request for Change of Program or Place of Training. Keep a record of your 22-1995 confirmation code.
- If you do not have a copy of your certificate of eligibility, we can also accept a W.A.V.E. Benefits Award Letter.
- Submit the Berklee Online Military Intake Form for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Dependents. Attach your certificate of eligibility or W.A.V.E Benefits Award Letter and 22-1995 code when submitting.
- Work with your Academic or Admissions Advisor to register for courses.
- Submit the Berklee Online VA Certification Request Form.
- The Military Affairs team will apply your 30% military tuition discount to your student account. Pay your remaining balance (or degree students can utilize federal financial aid) after the 30% discount. Chapter 30 Montgomery monthly payments are sent to you (not Berklee Online) starting on the first day of the 2nd month of your semester.
- The Military Affairs team will certify your enrollment.

- Chapter 30 Montgomery monthly payments are sent to you starting on the first day of the 2nd month of your semester. You are responsible for paying your student account balance or applying for federal financial aid.
Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31)
The Veteran Readiness (VR&E) Program is authorized by Congress under Title 38, Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter 31. It is sometimes referred to as the Chapter 31 program. The VR&E Program assists veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs.
Berklee Online will only invoice VR&E for direct costs (tuition and fees). As an online school, we do not invoice for books and course technology supplies (computers, software, hardware). All books and course technology supplies must be purchased through third party vendors that we partner with and offer student discounts through our Student Support department. Our Student Support department determines all course requirements at Berklee Online.
To utilize your VR&E benefits toward an online degree or certificate:
- Send your VR&E counselor's contact information (email, phone) to military@online.berklee.edu. We will contact them to request a purchase order authorization.
- Submit the Berklee Online Military Intake Form for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Dependents. Attach your DD214 when submitting.
- Work with your Academic or Admissions Advisor to register for courses.
- Once your VRE counselor sends a Purchase Order via the Tungsten Portal we will apply your anticipated VRE benefits to your tuition and registration fee. The Military Affairs team will also certify your enrollment with the VA.
- Contact our Student Support team at support@online.berklee.edu and request your course requirements (books, technology) for your registered courses. We are required by the VR&E to only provide "minimum" requirements for your current registered courses. (not future semesters)
- Send the list of course requirements provided by our Student Support Team to your VRE counselor. VRE can then purchase the items directly. If your VRE counselor has questions about your course requirements please contact us at military@online.berklee.edu.
Don't Forget…
- It is the responsibility of the student to work with their Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to ensure paperwork is completed and received on time.
- The student will be responsible for any approved amount not paid by the VR&E.
- We do not invoice VR&E for books and course technology requirements.

Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill® (MGIB) Selected Reserve
Members of the Selected Reserve, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard Reserves, the Army National Guard, and the Air Guard are eligible for MGIB-SR (chapter 1606). For more information, click here.
Chapter 35 Survivors and Dependents Assistance (DEA)
Dependents' Educational Assistance provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans.If you’re a dependent spouse or child—or the surviving spouse or child—of a Veteran, you may qualify. For more information, click here.
To use your Chapters 1606 or 35 toward an online degree or certificate:
- Initiate the Education Benefits Application process. Once approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility. This certificate will include your benefit level and overall entitlement.
Important Note
- If you have used your VA Benefits at another college, you will also be required to submit form 22-1995 Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (Ch. 1606) or 22-5495 Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (Ch. 35 DEA). Keep a record of your confirmation code.
- Submit the Berklee Online Military Intake Form for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Dependents. Attach your certificate of eligibility and 22-1995 code when submitting.
- Work with your Academic or Admissions Advisor to register for courses.
- Submit the Berklee Online VA Certification Request Form.
- The Military Affairs team will apply your 30% military tuition discount to your student account. Pay your remaining balance or utilize federal financial aid after the 30% discount. Your monthly VA benefit payments are sent to you (not Berklee Online) starting on the first day of the 2nd month of your semester.
- The Military Affairs team will certify your enrollment both prior to the start of the term and after the add/drop period.
