Private Loans

At this time, students cannot use federal financial aid towards Berklee Online individual courses or certificate programs. However, certificate program students can use private educational loans. Berklee Online does not recommend one specific lender. Each loan program may have different options and requirements. Students are responsible for comparing loan options and determining which loan program they qualify for that best suits their needs.

Amount to Borrow

Certificate students may borrow private loans to cover the entire cost of their program. To keep debt load as low as possible, you should only borrow what you need. If you are requesting more than the cost of your program, please contact our Finance Department at finance@online.berklee.edu to confirm eligibility.

Important Notes:

  • Students must be enrolled in a certificate program and have paid the $175 certificate registration fee prior to loan certification.
  • While Berklee Online is a division of Berklee College of Music, Berklee Online certificate programs are not Title IV approved. Any loan that requires the program you are pursuing to be Title IV approved cannot be used to pay for a certificate program.
  • Many loans require a student to be pursuing a degree and some may require you to be enrolled at a specific enrollment level (part time/full time).

To expedite the process of applying and receiving a loan, students are strongly encouraged to contact the Berklee Online Registrar’s Office at registrar@online.berklee.edu to ensure loan suitability.
