    This course investigates teaching and learning voice and explores practical strategies for facilitating singers’ learning to produce sound effectively.

    In this R&B and pop Improvisation course, you will learn several techniques in improvisation in the R&B and pop styles. You will learn riffs based on the pentatonic scales, the use of mixed voice, falsetto, belting, gritty textures, and other widely used techniques in the R&B and pop genres, while applying them to well known songs by Etta James, Christina Aguilera, The Weeknd, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Justin Timberlake, Prince, Demi Lavato, and more.

  • Music Career Essentials for the Professional Singer (OVOIC-130 • Level 1 Course)

    This course embraces the experience of becoming a professional vocalist as a whole. We will discuss and analyze different aspects and skills of the contemporary professional singer, from how to prepare and set up your musical act to how to network and establish your business presence in the music industry.

  • Music Theory and Sight-Singing for Vocalists (OVOIC-100 • Level 1 Course)

    This course is a basic to Intermediate level class introducing the elements of music theory and sight-reading for vocalists who would like to develop a strong fundamental knowledge of music theory and improve sight-singing skills.

  • The Art of Performing and Engaging an Audience for Singers (OVOIC-330 • Level 3 Course)

    In this course, you will explore several systems and methods you can use thoughtfully and deliberately to enhance your engagement with your audiences. You’ll apply these methods in actual performance to create your own audience engagement practice routine.

  • Vocal Production Techniques for Singers (OVOIC-400 • Level 4 Course)

    This course explores the production aspects that affect the career and development of vocalists, exposing them to tools and techniques that will serve them well in their professional life. Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) skills and collaboration processes are at the core of the course.
