In this advanced Music Production and Technology certificate program, you’ll build end-to-end production fluency—from critical listening and session planning to tracking, mixing, and mastering. Berklee’s production and engineering instructors will guide you through microphone technique, signal flow, and DAW workflows (including Pro Tools). You’ll also sharpen your vocal production and mixing skills and develop the interpersonal and musical insight to deliver professional, portfolio-ready work.

What You'll Learn

  • To analyze reference recordings for arrangement, performance, and emotional impact, and apply core vocal production techniques (doubling, layering, tuning, dynamics, ambience) in your own work
  • To hear and evaluate width, depth, frequency balance, and dynamics; identify EQ, compression, reverb, delay, and modulation in mixes; and optimize your listening environment
  • To configure and operate Pro Tools for audio/MIDI recording, editing, and mixing; manage sessions, plug-ins, Elastic Audio/Beat Detective, routing, and automation
  • To plan and run sessions with appropriate microphones and placements; trace complete analog/digital signal flow and gain staging; comp/tune/enhance vocals with technical fluency and interpersonal skill; and deliver organized, professional stereo mixes

    Learn how to properly set up, operate, and manage a recording studio, integrating both analog and digital elements.

  • Pro Tools 110 (OMPRD-221 • Level 2 Course)

    In this second stage of Avid’s Pro Tools certification program, you’ll learn a broad range of tools and production techniques that will help you tackle more complex Pro Tools projects and enhance your capabilities.
