Great composers don’t just write music—they craft sound into a language that speaks across genres. The Advanced Professional Music Theory and Composition Certificate provides a structured path to mastering harmony, melody, rhythm, and form. You’ll start with core courses, Music Theory and Composition 1–4, then tailor your studies with courses in jazz composition, counterpoint, notation, and arranging. With guidance from Berklee’s expert faculty, you’ll refine your compositional voice while developing skills in analysis, arranging, and writing for rhythm sections, ensembles, and visual media. Whether scoring for film, arranging for live performance, or composing original works, this program gives you the tools to bring your musical ideas to life.

    Develop your writing and arranging skills for small and large ensembles and learn techniques that you can apply to both live instrumentation and sequences.

  • Music Notation and Score Preparation using Sibelius Ultimate (OCWPR-103 • Level 1 Course)

    Learn to use Sibelius to create lead sheets, scores, and parts, as well as how to enter and format notation so it conforms to current music publishing standards.
