John Kull’s IMDB page reads like a well-rounded Netflix queue, with nearly 200 major motion picture credits as an orchestrator or conductor for films such as Black Panther, A Quiet Place, Mary Poppins Returns, and all of the Hunger Games movies. There’s not a genre he hasn’t orchestrated, from science fiction and horror films to comedy and children’s films, and everything in between. He has also composed music for B-movie horror and action-comedy films.
Kull earned his advanced studies certificate from the Film Scoring program at the University of Southern California (USC). There he made the professional contacts that launched his career, including Patrick Russ, who orchestrated for Maurice Jarre and Elmer Bernstein. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Colorado, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Composition and Piano Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder.
