Randy Pingrey

Music for Film, TV, and Games and Music Theory, Harmony, and Ear Training

Randy Pingrey is an assistant professor in the Harmony department at Berklee College of Music, and instructs music theory at Berklee Online. In 2022, he received the Exemplary Faculty Award from Berklee Online for teaching Music Theory and Composition 1. Pingrey is a professional trombonist and has recorded with Grammy-winning band Bon Iver on their first album, For Emma, Forever Ago. He has also recorded with Bryce and Aaron Dessner (The National), Kelley Deal (The Breeders), Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), and many more. He is the leader of his band, the Olson Pingrey Quartet, and a member of East Coast Soul, Beantown Swing Orchestra, Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra, Evan Ziporyn’s Critical Band, and many other projects.
