Shaun Balin

Songwriting and Music Business

Shaun Balin is a multi-instrumentalist, touring musician, songwriter, and entrepreneur with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of the music industry and music education. A Berklee College of Music alumnus, Shaun has logged more than 2,500 nights on the road as a session artist and music director. As a multi-instrumentalist specializing in fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, pedal steel, and singing background vocals, he has shared stages with Lauren Alaina, Lady A, Brett Eldredge, Kelsea Ballerini, Thomas Rhett, Dan + Shay, and Maren Morris, and more. He has appeared on national television programs, including The Tonight Show, Nashville, and the CMA and CMT Awards. He has also built an active career as a songwriter and producer with a professional network spanning Nashville, Los Angeles, and New York. In addition to his work as a musician, Balin is an entrepreneur who has scaled to more than $7 million in annual revenue. His teaching draws on hard-won, firsthand knowledge of how the music business actually works: from publishing and licensing to touring economics, artist development, and the practical craft of building a sustainable career as a working songwriter.
