Sonya Kolowrat

Sonya Kolowrat has been working in the music industry for over 25 years and mastered many things including publicity, reissue production + curation, catalog marketing, audio archiving, social media, product management, and much more. She is honored to work for some of the most visionary leaders in the music business.

She began her career at the legendary label Rykodisc, as an intern in the publicity department, where she worked her way up to eventually head up the entire department. After her years with Rykodisc, she ran a Boutique PR firm in Brooklyn, which handled campaigns for a quality stable of indie artists. In 2004 she joined the team at the Beggars Group of Labels (4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, XL Recordings + Young) as a publicist, where she handled campaigns for artists including Vampire Weekend, Bobby Womack, Scott Walker and more. A few years ago she shifted away from PR and into the world of catalog marketing. In her role as US Director of Catalog, she works closely with the labels past and present to maximize their catalog efforts/ She’s also served as Reissue Producer for select Matador projects including the glorious Liz Phair Girly-Sound to Guyville box set, along with reissues for Mary Timony and Helium. Most recently, Sonya project managed the stunning Gang Of Four 77-81 box set and reissue campaign, and is now working with Pavement on upcoming reissues.

In her spare time, Sonya has been studying the history of West Coast punk, watching and writing about music documentaries, and trying to visit the final resting places of every single musical luminary in the greater Los Angeles area.
