Professor Emeritus Dan Moretti is an American saxophonist, recording artist, composer, producer, and educator. He served on the faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1996 to 2025, holding a full-time position as Professor in the CWP (Contemporary Writing and Production) department. He was given the school’s Curriculum Development Award for his on-campus course Groove Writing, which is offered at Berklee Online as Arranging and Producing Contemporary Music Styles. In 2008, his book Producing and Mixing Contemporary Jazz was released on Hal Leonard-Berklee Press. In 2010, Dan collaborated with Matthew Nichol and Oscar Stagnaro on the book Essential Grooves for Sher Music. Dan is also the co-author of Arranging 1 Rhythm Section.

Dan has released 22 recordings worldwide. His newest, Dan Moretti & Brazilia Live Celebrating Wayne Shorter (2025) on the Roots Grooves label, reached No. 1 nationally on the RMR charts and No. 4 nationally on the Jazz Week Charts and remained on the charts for more than 25 weeks. Since 2000, Dan has performed his music at festivals and presented at seminars around the world, including in Italy, Turkey, England, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Africa, Ecuador, and Gibraltar. He has also worked as a sideman with artists like Nile Rodgers and Chic. Some of the performers he has shared the stage with include Robert Plant, Stevie Nicks, Chaka Khan, Kid Rock, George Duke, Solomon Burke, Steve Winwood, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and more. Dan remains active recording, composing, and performing with several of his ensembles within a wide range of jazz-related styles.
