Freddie Bryant received a Master’s degree in classical guitar from the Yale School of Music and in addition to being on the faculty at Berklee, he is also a visiting faculty member at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Holland. Before coming to Berklee, he was a professor in the Africana Studies and Music departments at Williams College. Bryant is an active player in the New York jazz and Brazilian scenes, where he has worked with Elaine Elias, Tom Harrell, The Mingus Orchestra, Ben Riley's Thelonious Monk Legacy Septet, Chris Potter, Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Max Roach. He leads his own groups and has released eight albums as a leader, the most recent of which is "Monk Restrung," featuring the music of Thelonious Monk.
